A variety of
highly effective, state-of-the-art treatment options are available for men with
fertility issues. To learn more about them, log onto

options can often be simple, and usually highly effective.
What are the treatment options if the semen analysis is
abnormal?
More than 50 percent of men will have
some treatable cause of male factor infertility. Following treatment, a man will
often see a significant improvement in a subsequent semen analysis. These
treatable conditions include:
- Varicoceles (varicose veins in the scrotum)
- Infections
- Hormonal abnormalities
- Abnormalities in the seminal fluid
- Blockages
- Difficulties with erections and ejaculation
- Certain medications
- Diabetes
In
many instances, treatment involves intrauterine insemination (IUI) with sperm
washing, to improve sperm motility, or wash away abnormal sperm or debris.
Alternatively, advanced repro-ductive techniques, including in vitro
fertilization (IVF) or intracy-toplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with the
injection of sperm directly into the egg, may be chosen. There are also options
for those cases in which men do not ejaculate any sperm at all, as a result of
vasectomy, scarring, or blockage. In these instances, tes-ticular sperm
aspiration (TESA) or other urological surgery may be required.
